Every symbol has an outside shape and an internal mark. Find all exact copies while rejecting symbols that match only one feature.
Attention puzzle formats
Attention puzzles do more than ask you to “concentrate.” Each format places pressure on a specific rule: what to select, what to ignore, when to respond or how to cover a field without losing your place.
Find every item matching a reference while similar distractors remain visible. Set size and similarity determine how carefully each candidate must be checked.
Respond to one feature while another points towards the wrong response, such as a word meaning one colour while displayed in another.
Respond to frequent “go” signals but withhold the same action when a stop condition appears. The hard part is interrupting an established rhythm.
Follow moving or repeated items without double-counting, losing the current total or confusing a target with nearby activity.
Find the single symbol that breaks a repeated visual rule. Small rotations, missing marks and reversed directions create the useful distinctions.
An attention puzzle keeps the necessary information visible but surrounds it with competing candidates. Success depends on preserving the full selection rule while moving accurately through the display.
The player must select relevant information from a field that contains plausible distractions. In Target Hunt, the reference symbol stays on screen, so nothing important has to be recalled after it disappears. The challenge is instead to apply the same two-feature test repeatedly without letting one feature take over.
This differs from a memory puzzle, where clues are removed before the response, and from a logic puzzle, where all the information may remain visible but must be combined to infer a rule. Attention games can overlap other categories, but they usually make selection, restraint or coverage the central action.
If the target is a circle with a dot, another circle with a line is not “nearly correct.” Naming both defining features before scanning makes that boundary clearer.
A crowded field of obviously different objects can be easier than a smaller field of near-identical ones. If every distractor differs in shape and mark, candidates can be rejected quickly. If most differ in only one detail, each item needs a complete comparison.
Target Hunt difficulty therefore changes more than board size. Later rounds include more symbols and genuine targets, while Hard mode favours distractors sharing either the target’s outside shape or its internal mark. Difficulty rises through closer decisions, not merely smaller artwork.
Moving the eyes quickly does not guarantee that every area has been checked. A dependable route creates coverage: a clear answer to “where have I already looked?” It also reduces the temptation to return repeatedly to visually distinctive items.
When several targets are present, found matches remain visibly marked. Treat them as completed positions and continue along the existing route rather than starting the entire search again.
Target Hunt assigns 82% of its base score to accuracy and 18% to speed. Found targets raise accuracy; missed targets and incorrect selections lower it. The speed contribution is suppressed near chance performance, so a rapid series of indiscriminate selections cannot produce a strong result.
Easy, Standard and Hard results are stored separately because their board sizes and distractor similarity differ. These are recreational game scores for personal comparison, not measures of intelligence, attention disorders or neurological health.
Target Hunt belongs to the eight-skill Daily Workout rotation. Five distinct skills are selected for each local date, so Attention appears on five days in every balanced eight-day cycle and can occupy any station position. When selected, everyone receives the same Standard boards.
Standalone play from this hub allows Easy or Hard practice without replacing the first completed daily result.
Yes. Target Hunt and the full Daily Brain Workout can be played without an account, registration or payment.
No. Each generated board is validated so every target matches both required features and every distractor differs in shape, internal mark or both.
Yes. Use arrow keys to move through the Target Hunt board and Space or Enter to select a symbol. Cells include row, column and symbol descriptions for assistive technology.
No. It is a result from one recreational puzzle, influenced by its rules, difficulty and the circumstances of that attempt. It is not a diagnostic or medical assessment.
