Scoring, with the workings shown

Every point
has a job.

Correct or completed work leads. Useful pace can help. Fast guessing and random tapping cannot take a shortcut. Here is the route from puzzle play to a score out of 100.

The shared score recipe

Quality first.
Then usefully quick.

Most games measure correct answers; Toggle Grid measures completion and move efficiency. Every recipe publishes its task-quality and pace weights rather than pretending unlike puzzles count the same thing.

  1. 01
    Task quality

    Measure useful work

Most games count correct answers. Toggle Grid combines completed boards with move efficiency against an exact optimum.

    0–100
  2. 02
    Active response time

    Measure pace

Average response time is compared with a target time. Meeting or beating the target reaches the pace cap; extra speed adds no more.

    Capped
  3. 03
    Anti-shortcut check

    Protect the pace share

Answer games suppress pace near chance accuracy. Toggle Grid gives no pace to an unfinished board and keeps speed at only 5%.

The chance guard

Fast guessing stays fast guessing.

Four-choice games have a 25% chance baseline. A player answering around that level receives little or no pace credit, however quickly they tap. As accuracy rises above chance, more of the available pace score becomes useful.

This is why a careful correct answer is usually worth more than several rushed mistakes.

The bars show the pace component before its game weight, not the final score. Both examples are quick; only one is also reliably correct.

Fourteen current game recipes

What each exercise actually counts.

Each game records its current scoring method. Raw measures remain game-specific, while the finished result always lands on the same 0–100 scale.

0185% accuracy · 15% pace

QTask qualityTarget squares found, measured against all target squares plus any wrong selections.

GShortcut guardThe average proportion of target squares in that round’s grids.

PPaceAverage recall time, measured against the game’s target time.

What does not add hidden points

Missed and wrongly selected squares lower accuracy. Exact rounds are feedback, not bonus points.

0290% positional accuracy · 10% pace

QTask qualityEntries that match the expected pad at the same route position. Missing timeout steps count as incorrect.

GShortcut guardOne in nine on a 3×3 board and one in sixteen on a 4×4 board.

PPaceAverage recall time per expected route step, measured against the target for that difficulty.

What does not add hidden points

Exact routes are feedback only. Wrong-order pads and missed steps lower accuracy without a separate hidden penalty.

03
Attention

Target Hunt

82% accuracy · 18% pace

QTask qualityTargets found, measured against all targets plus any wrong selections.

GShortcut guardThe average proportion of target symbols on that round’s boards.

PPaceAverage search time, measured against the game’s target time.

What does not add hidden points

Wrong selections increase the error count. Exact boards are feedback, not a separate bonus.

0484% accuracy · 16% pace

QTask qualityExact matches out of every symbol shown. An unanswered timeout counts as incorrect.

GShortcut guard33% on Easy, 25% on Standard and 20% on Hard because the option count changes by level.

PPaceAverage answer time, measured against the target for that difficulty and suppressed at chance accuracy.

What does not add hidden points

Longest streak is feedback only. Rotated, reflected or one-feature-different symbols are not exact matches.

0590% completion quality · 10% gated pace

QTask qualityValues selected in the exact ascending prefix, with unfinished values reducing completion and wrong taps reducing control.

GShortcut guardNo fixed guessing baseline. Pace is multiplied by completion twice and by error control, so a quick partial board earns little speed credit.

PPaceAverage time between correct selections, measured against the target for that difficulty.

What does not add hidden points

Each wrong tap also removes 1.5 points, capped at 15. Easy, Standard and Hard apply 0.98, 1.00 and 1.02 adjustments.

0688% accuracy · 12% pace

QTask qualityCorrect answers out of every sequence shown. An unanswered timeout counts as incorrect.

GShortcut guard25%, because each sequence has four answer choices.

PPaceAverage answer time, measured against the game’s target time.

What does not add hidden points

There is no hidden streak bonus and no extra reward for a particular pattern type.

0775% completion · 20% control · 5% pace

QTask qualityThe unique grid completed, with limited partial credit for correct editable cells on an unfinished attempt.

GShortcut guardNo fixed guessing baseline. An unfinished grid receives no completion or pace credit.

PPaceCompleted-puzzle time against the target for that grid size; capped and worth only 5%.

What does not add hidden points

Failed checks reduce control, resets carry a smaller reduction, and Undo is free. Clue cells never count as player answers.

0872% accuracy · 13% pace · 15% volume

QTask qualityCorrect answers out of all equations attempted during the 60-second round.

GShortcut guard25%, because each equation has four answer choices.

PPaceAverage answer time, with fast guessing suppressed by the same chance guard.

What does not add hidden points

Volume rewards useful correct work toward the difficulty target. Wrong answers do not add volume; streak is feedback only.

0985% full-set correctness · 15% gated pace

QTask qualityCorrect equations measured against all eight generated rounds; unanswered rounds receive no correctness credit.

GShortcut guardOne in three on Easy, one in sixteen on Standard and one in sixty-four on Hard. Pace is gated by completion-adjusted work above that baseline.

PPaceAverage response time for submitted equations, measured against the target for that difficulty.

What does not add hidden points

Displayed accuracy covers submitted equations, while the main score uses correct answers out of all eight. Difficulties have no artificial multiplier and are compared separately.

1087% accuracy · 13% pace

QTask qualityCorrect answers out of every shape shown. An unanswered timeout counts as incorrect.

GShortcut guard25%, because each shape has four answer choices.

PPaceAverage answer time, measured against the game’s target time.

What does not add hidden points

Reflection and altered-shape errors are useful feedback, but neither carries an extra point penalty.

11
Spatial

Cube Net

88% accuracy · 12% pace

QTask qualityCorrect folding nets out of every question shown. An unanswered timeout counts as incorrect.

GShortcut guard25% on Easy and Standard, or 20% on Hard because the option count rises from four to five.

PPaceAverage answer time, measured against the target for that difficulty and suppressed at chance accuracy.

What does not add hidden points

Face-overlap and hinge-conflict counts are diagnostic feedback. Neither adds a separate point penalty.

12
Language

Word Ladder

84% accuracy · 16% pace

QTask qualityCorrect clue answers out of every ladder step. An unanswered timeout counts as incorrect.

GShortcut guard25%, because each clue has four legal one-letter choices.

PPaceAverage clue-answer time, measured against the target for that difficulty.

What does not add hidden points

The displayed best streak is feedback only. Route length and a particular starting word add no hidden bonus.

1388% full-set correctness · 12% gated pace

QTask qualityCorrect clue words measured against all eight rounds; unanswered rounds receive no correctness credit.

GShortcut guardNo fixed guessing baseline. Pace is based only on correctly solved words and multiplied by whole-set correctness.

PPaceAverage response time for correct words, measured against the target for that difficulty.

What does not add hidden points

Displayed accuracy covers submitted words, while the main score uses correct answers out of all eight. Easy, Standard and Hard records are compared separately.

14
Planning

Toggle Grid

72% completion · 23% efficiency · 5% pace

QTask qualityBoards cleared, plus move efficiency measured against each board’s exact shortest solution.

GShortcut guardNo fixed guessing baseline. An unfinished board receives no efficiency or pace credit.

PPaceCompleted-board time against the target for that grid size; capped and worth only 5%.

What does not add hidden points

Undo and reset remain available, but earlier presses stay in the move count. There is no hidden bonus for using the solver’s particular route.

Difficulty and fair comparisons

Three settings.
Three record lanes.

Game difficulty changes puzzle demands as well as applying a small final adjustment. That adjustment recognises the harder setting without pretending the experiences are interchangeable.

Personal bests, attempts and game averages stay within the same game and the same difficulty. A Hard Shape Rotation result is not placed in the same record lane as an Easy one.

The Daily Brain Workout currently uses Standard for all five stations, so every Daily exercise uses the neutral ×1.00 multiplier.

Five stations.
Equal say.

A Daily Score is the rounded arithmetic mean of the five completed station scores selected from that date’s balanced eight-skill rotation. There is no hidden bonus for a strongest skill, completing quickly, sharing the result or maintaining a streak.

A Daily Score appears only after all five stations are complete. The first completed result for each station is saved as that date’s official result. Replaying a game later can build its standalone history, but cannot rewrite that Daily Score.

Records, averages and streaks

Context from your own play.

These labels describe locally saved puzzle history. They do not compare you with other players or a population sample.

PB

Personal best

Your highest score for that exact game and difficulty across Daily, standalone and practice play. A tied best is not labelled as a new personal best.

7

Game recent average

The average of up to your seven latest results for that game and difficulty. On the dashboard, this includes the newest result.

±

Result comparison

After a game, the newest result is compared with up to seven earlier like-for-like results. The current score is excluded from that comparison baseline.

Daily comparison

Today’s Daily Score is compared with up to seven previous complete five-station workouts, even though the balanced skill mix can vary. Exact personal-best comparisons remain separated by game and difficulty.

Current streak

Consecutive local dates with all five Daily stations completed. It remains active when the latest finish was today or yesterday.

Longest streak

The longest run of consecutive completed Daily dates in this browser. Standalone games do not extend a Daily streak.

Recorded scoring methods

A formula should not change in disguise.

Every result saves which scoring and puzzle methods were used, alongside the raw game measures, difficulty, mode, date and active duration.

If a formula is refined later, that marker lets the site identify the change rather than implying two different calculations were identical. The page will be updated when a published scoring method changes.

Score questions

The useful fine print.

Still seeing a result that does not make sense? Include the game, difficulty and what happened when you contact us. Please do not send sensitive personal information.

Is a Puzzle Workout score an intelligence or health score?

No. It describes how you performed in one of these recreational puzzle rounds. It is not an IQ score, medical assessment, diagnosis or measure of neurological health.

Why can my score fall when I answer faster?

Task quality has more weight than pace in every game. Answer games suppress pace near their chance level, while Binary Grid and Toggle Grid give pace only 5% and award it only for a completed board.

Why do Easy, Standard and Hard have separate records?

They present different demands and use a small difficulty adjustment. Personal bests and game averages therefore compare only the same game at the same difficulty.

Does pausing lower my score?

No. Paused time is excluded from active play time, and hiding the browser tab automatically pauses a game. The response time already used for a completed question or round still counts.

Can a later replay change today’s Daily Score?

No. The first completed result for each Daily Workout station is the official result for that date. Later standalone or practice plays can add to that game’s history but do not replace the completed Daily Score.

Will scoring ever change?

It may be refined as games develop. Every saved result records which scoring method was used, so a future change can be identified rather than silently presented as the same calculation.
