Getting started
Cost, accounts, devices, difficulty and finding a game.
01Is Puzzle Workout free?+
Yes. The Daily Brain Workout, all individual games, progress dashboard and help pages are free to use. There are no subscriptions, entry fees, prizes or paid difficulty levels in the current service.
02Do I need an account or sign-in?+
No. You can play immediately without registering, supplying a name or creating a password. Progress is kept in the current browser rather than attached to an online profile.
03How do I find the right game?+
Open the Games page and filter by Memory, Attention, Speed, Logic, Numbers, Language, Spatial or Planning. A game can appear under a useful secondary filter such as Speed while keeping one primary category home.
04Which difficulty should I choose?+
Standard is a sensible first attempt. Move to Easy if you want more room to learn the rules, or Hard when Standard feels consistently comfortable. Game records keep Easy, Standard and Hard separate, so changing level does not spoil a like-for-like personal best.
05Can I play on a phone, tablet or laptop?+
Yes. Puzzle Workout is designed mobile-first and adapts to touch, mouse and keyboard use. Interactive games require JavaScript in a reasonably current browser; the editorial and help content remains readable without it.
06What is Workout Shuffle?+
Workout Shuffle is an optional random-game picker on the Games page. It chooses from the games visible under your current filter, shows the result, and waits for you to confirm before opening anything. It does not change the official Daily Workout.
Daily Workout
The five-station circuit, daily changeover, pausing and official results.
01What is the Daily Brain Workout?+
It is one five-station circuit selected from eight Daily-eligible games: Grid Recall, Target Hunt, Symbol Match, Pattern Sequence, Quick Maths, Shape Rotation, Word Ladder and Toggle Grid. Every day uses five distinct skills at Standard difficulty and normally takes around five to nine minutes including instructions and transitions.
02When does the Daily Workout change?+
A new workout arrives at local midnight according to the date on your device. A page left open across midnight will notify you that a new local-day workout is available.
03Does everyone receive the same Daily Workout?+
Everyone using the same local calendar date receives the same five-game selection, station order and puzzles. Players in different time zones can be on different local dates at the same moment, and an incorrect device clock can therefore show a different day.
04Can I leave and finish the Daily Workout later?+
Yes. Completed stations are saved in this browser. If you close or reload during the current station, that unfinished game restarts cleanly when you continue; already completed station results remain in the workout.
05What happens if I switch browser tabs during a game?+
The active timer pauses automatically when the page becomes hidden. When you return, the game remains paused until you explicitly resume, so a background tab does not quietly consume the remaining time.
06Can a replay change today’s official Daily Score?+
No. The first completed result for each Daily station is protected as that date’s official result. Later standalone or practice attempts can join the game’s own history, but they cannot rewrite a completed Daily Score.
Scores & progress
Game scores, Daily Scores, records, comparisons and streaks.
01How is an individual game score calculated?+
Each game converts its own task measures into a score from 0 to 100. Correct or completed work carries most of the weight and pace is capped. Quick Maths also counts useful volume, Missing Operators and Anagram Sprint measure correct work across their complete eight-round sets, Cube Net uses accuracy with gated pace, and Toggle Grid counts completion and move efficiency.
02How is the Daily Score calculated?+
The five completed station scores are added together and divided equally by five, then rounded to a whole number. There is no hidden bonus for the strongest station, maintaining a streak, finishing transitions quickly or sharing the result.
03What counts as a personal best?+
A personal best is your highest locally saved score for the same game at the same difficulty across Daily, standalone and practice play. Tying the existing highest score does not receive a new-personal-best label.
04What does “recent average” mean?+
The game dashboard averages up to your seven latest results for that exact game and difficulty, including the newest result. A post-game comparison instead measures the new result against up to seven earlier like-for-like attempts. Daily comparisons use up to seven earlier completed workouts.
05How does a Daily streak work?+
A streak advances when all five Daily stations are completed on consecutive local dates. Standalone games do not extend it. The current streak remains active when the latest completed circuit was today or yesterday, allowing today to remain unfinished without immediately breaking yesterday’s run.
06Is a Puzzle Workout score an IQ or health assessment?+
No. Scores describe performance in these recreational puzzles under a particular rule set, difficulty and time limit. They do not diagnose a condition, measure neurological health, calculate IQ or establish real-world intelligence.
Data & privacy
Browser storage, device limits, export, reset, cookies and tracking.
01Where is my progress saved?+
Completed results, Daily Workouts and progress records are stored in a first-party IndexedDB database inside this browser. The current application does not upload that workout history to Puzzle Workout or attach it to an account.
02Does progress sync between devices or browsers?+
No. Each browser profile and device has its own local history. Clearing site data, using private browsing, changing browser or losing the device can remove or separate that history, and Puzzle Workout cannot recover it from a server.
03Can I export or reset my progress?+
Yes. The Progress page can download the current local record as a versioned JSON file. Its Reset control removes the game results, Daily Workouts and preferences stored for Puzzle Workout in this browser only after explicit confirmation.
Accessibility
Keyboard play, motion, timing, non-visual access and barrier reports.
01Can the games be played with a keyboard?+
Yes. Every current game has a keyboard route. Grid games use arrow keys with Enter or Space; choice games also support arrow navigation and direct number keys. Cube Net Hard extends those shortcuts from 1–4 to 1–5. The exact controls are shown beside each game.
02Does the site respect reduced-motion settings?+
Yes. The shared interface removes smooth scrolling and reduces animation and transition duration when the operating system requests reduced motion. Workout Shuffle also skips its reel sequence and presents the selected game immediately.
03Is there an untimed or extended-time mode?+
Not currently. Instructions appear before timing begins and active games can be paused, but the current games do not yet offer a comparable untimed or extended-time setting. This is recorded as a known accessibility limitation.
04Which game currently works best without visual pattern recognition?+
Quick Maths, Missing Operators, Word Ladder and Anagram Sprint are the strongest current non-visual fits because their questions, controls, feedback and results are text. Cube Net also describes every occupied square row by row, though mentally folding that geometry remains spatially demanding. Shape Rotation does not yet offer an equivalent non-visual description, and dense memory and attention grids remain visually demanding.
05How do I report an accessibility barrier?+
Email [email protected] or use the Contact page. Include the page or game, what you were trying to do, what happened and—if useful—the device, browser and assistive technology involved. You do not need to identify a WCAG criterion or disclose a disability.
About the site
Who makes Puzzle Workout, how puzzles are generated and where to ask more.
01Who makes Puzzle Workout?+
Puzzle Workout is published by Hamilton Digital Media Limited. Brian Hamilton leads the product engineering and puzzle systems; Karan Hamilton contributes puzzle ideas, first-play testing, instructions and player-experience review.
02How are the puzzles generated and checked?+
Each game uses a versioned seeded generator plus game-specific validation. The seed makes generated content reproducible, while validation checks rules such as unique answers, exact target differences, connected shapes, cube-face orientation, valid arithmetic, legal word links, exact anagram letter multisets and solvable Toggle Grid boards before play.
03Will the puzzles repeat?+
A particular seed intentionally recreates the same puzzle for fairness. Standalone attempts use fresh namespaced seeds, producing varied rounds. Some sources are explicitly finite: Cube Net uses 11 valid and 24 invalid free hexominoes, Word Ladder recombines 413 words across 1,240 links, and Anagram Sprint draws from 215 clue-word entries. “Generated” does not mean infinite or unconstrained.
04Will more games and categories be added?+
That is the plan, but there is no promise of a fixed publishing schedule. A new game needs clear rules, fair scoring, responsive controls, reliable puzzles and its own useful guidance before it joins the library or Daily Workout.
